Greeting the New Year

I typically like new beginnings and fresh starts, and this new year is no different. Though I can’t possibly know exactly what this new year will bring, I find myself feeling hopeful and full of anticipation.

In her poem, “We Look with Uncertainty,” poet Anne Hillman writes, “Something new is being born in us if we but let it.  We stand at a new doorway, awaiting that which comes…”

As 2015 begins, we all stand at a doorway, “awaiting that which comes,” perhaps wondering what “new is being born in us if we but let it.”   But I’ve learned that life is not only about what comes but how I receive “that which comes.”  Can I welcome this new year with an open heart, willing to learn, be inspired, even challenged?
